Wesley E. Cook DNP, APRN, FNP-BC
Nurse Practitioner | Medical Director
Dr. Wesley Cook is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who is board-certified in primary care across the lifespan (FNP-BC). He subspecializes in geriatrics, that is medical care of older adult. His specific interests lie in the philosophy of medicine, advance care planning, and the care of patients with multicomplexity, heart failure, and dementia.
Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Dr. Cook trained at Johns Hopkins and practiced as a registered nurse from 2008-2015, specializing in burn, wound, and plastic surgical care across the reconstructive/cosmetic continuum. He maintains a cosmetic medicine practice in addition to his work in geriatrics where he offers Botox, dermal fillers, and chemical peels on a house calls basis. After completing his nurse practitioner training at Drexel University in 2015, Dr. Cook began his career as a home-based primary care provider, providing house calls to frail seniors. From 2015-2018 Sonja Richmond, MD mentored him in geriatrics, palliative care, and hospice. After finishing his clinical doctorate at Drexel University in 2018, Dr. Cook went into independent practice and expanded District Primary Care into Wards 6, 7, and 8.
Dr. Cook has called Capitol Hill home since 2016. When he is not caring for patients or managing District Primary Care, you'll likely find him writing, studying acting and voice, taking in an Oscar-nominated film in a desperate attempt to see them all before the awards night, reading a book recommended by a friend, training at the gym, or hand-making fresh pasta and singing around the piano with his best friends and goddaughter.

Dr. Cook believes that the duty of Medicine is to cure what may be cured, manage what may only be managed, and provide comfort always. By focusing the care plan on the Five M’s—the patient’s mental health, mobility, medication safety needs, multicomplexity, and what matters most, patients and families may choose beneficial interventions and leave behind harmful ones.
